Place and Learning on Country

ABSTRACT

In this seminar Dr Bill Fogarty will  be examining the role of Place-Based pedagogic approaches in Indigenous education. The seminar will examine the theoretical history of place-based education and present a detailed case study of one such approach, Learning on Country. This seminar will form the first part of a three-seminar block examining education ‘On and Off Country’. In this seminar, Dr Fogarty argues for radical reform of current directions in education policy for remote Indigenous students and a shift in educative design towards local aspirations for cultural resurgence and on country development.
