CIPR leads national and international research collaboration with First Nations communities in three interconnected areas of Indigenous research:
1. Indigenous nation-building: In partnership with First Nations communities nationally and globally, the centre is leading engaged research about innovative models of Indigenous governance of development that contribute to the re-building of Indigenous Nations and futures. This research amplifies First Nations voices on policy reform priorities such as self-determination, truth telling and agreement making.
2. Indigenous culture and wellbeing: CIPR has established a national reputation in leading research about Indigenous culture and wellbeing, designing novel methods to co-produce culture and wellbeing frameworks in partnership with First Nations communities that influence and inform public policy to achieve equity in health outcomes. This research elevates Indigenous knowledge about health and wellbeing in national public policy discourse. region.
3. Indigenous policy making: CIPR has an unrivalled track record in leading research about Indigenous policy making. In partnership with state and national institutions, the centre is translating research findings from a wide range of data sources about education, employment and economic prosperity into evidenced-based policy and practice. This research advances Indigenous self-determination by empowering First Nations communities to lead and participate in decision making about matters affecting them.
