The Sidney Myer Fund

The Sidney Myer Fund has its origins in the will of philanthropist Sidney Myer, founder of the Myer department store chain. On his death in 1934, he left one tenth of his estate for the benefit of the community in which he made his fortune. To this day, the Sidney Myer Fund continues the legacy of his civic generosity for which he became renowned in his lifetime. The mission of Myer family philanthropy is to build a fair, just, creative, sustainable and caring society through initiatives that promote positive change in Australia, and in relation to Australia’s regional setting.
